Terex General 65 MAX

Terex-General-65

Terex Utilities has introduced a new generation of the General 65 digger derrick for utility transmission applications.

At a 10-foot radius and fully retracted, the General 65 MAX can lift 22,620 pounds. With the optional X-Boost, the machine features 25,000 pounds of capacity at high boom angles, which is 26% more power than its predecessor. X-Boost adjusts hydraulic pressure to increase load-handling capability and enables strong performance for lifting at high boom angles.

The General 65 MAX leverages many Terex pioneered digger derrick design features, such as trapezoidal dual hydraulic cylinders, a retractable rectangular boom and a filament-wound fiberglass third boom section.

Other common features will make life easier for technicians and operators. Radio controls and other control station options are available so controls can be customized. Technicians will also experience ease of maintenance working on a simple, full-pressure hydraulic system and overall maintenance access to features such as the collector block and extension cylinders.

The General 65 MAX can be equipped with a variety of tools and accessories to increase productivity. Options include several styles of transferable pole guide arms, a full lineup of Terex augers to match digging conditions and material-handling jibs. www.terex.com/utilities/en/product/commander-general-series/General-65

Terex Hi-Ranger TL48

Terex-Hi-Ranger

Terex Utilities recently announced a new Hi-Ranger telescopic aerial device with superior jib capacities to meet the needs of trouble truck applications.

With an industry-leading side reach of almost 32 feet, the TL48 has a 500-pound bucket capacity plus a maximum material-handling capacity of 1,000 pounds. The key feature is when the upper boom is at a horizontal position, it still achieves 800 pounds of jib capacity with the inner boom retracted at 23-foot side reach and 26-foot working height, and 200 pounds fully extended at 32-foot side reach, where similar units have no material-handling capability. The product is offered with an end-mounted, cobra-style hydraulic articulating jib as well as side-mount bucket and jib configurations.

All TL units support ground access, making it easier to hand off tools, support personnel rescue and clean out debris in the platform. Like all Hi-Ranger telescopic booms, the TL48 is equipped with a rigid rectangular boom constructed from epoxy resin and bi-axial wound fiberglass filament. This process and design achieve consistency in insulating properties, size, density and strength-to-weight ratio of the boom. www.terex.com/utilities/en/product/hi-ranger-tl/tl48

CURT QuickPin Trailer Coupler

CURT-Trailer-Coupler

CURT, supplier of a complete line of towing products and the leading manufacturer of USA-made custom-fit trailer hitches, has introduced a revolutionary new trailer coupler that completely does away with the traditional latch design.

The CURT QuickPin trailer coupler is the first of its kind, engineered to answer the problem of complicated hinging components on a traditional latch-style coupler. Instead of a latch that is prone to rust and wear, QuickPin uses a single hitch pin to secure the coupler onto the ball. The simple pin design provides a secure vehicle-trailer connection while reducing stress, frustration and the time it takes to hook up your trailer.

The QuickPin coupler is currently available to fit standard 2-inch-diameter balls, and it can be purchased in three different trailer tongue widths: 2-inch, 2.5-inch and 3-inch. To make installation easier, QuickPin also comes with pre-drilled holes to fit most existing bolt configurations. www.curtmfg.com/quickpin

Insulated Z-45 Boom Lift from Terex Utilities

Terex-Boom-Lift

Terex Utilities has announced the new Genie Z-45 Substation Utility Boom (SUB). The Z-45 SUB is a purpose-built mobile elevated work platform. It is designed for substation work and other applications where an insulated device is needed but use of traditional bucket trucks is prohibitive due to size and maneuverability. Traditional all-steel aerial work platforms do not provide dielectric protection and have inherent differences of potential from the chassis ground to the boom tip that require specialized work practices and grounding.

Featuring a fiberglass jib section and fiberglass platform with swing gate, the Z-45 SUB complies with the ANSI A92.2 standard for Category E insulating rating of 20 kV, as measured between the boom tip and chassis. The standard fiberglass platform comes with floor grating and optional cutouts for increased visibility, access and water egress.

The Z-45 SUB has zero tail-swing and 355-degree rotation in tight quarters, self-propelled control, and up-and-over capability of the boom to give utility workers greater positioning flexibility. Operators can precisely position the boom with fully proportional drive and boom functions. The Lift Guard Contact Alarm provides a secondary warning designed to reduce crushing hazards. If an operator is caught between the controls and another object, a breakaway cable activates to disable lift and drive functions and trigger visual and audible alarms. www.terex.com/utilities/en/product/substation/z-45-sub
