Utility Fleet Professional Checks Out Utility Expo 2023

Kurt Moreland, Associate Publisher of Utility Fleet Magazine, was live at The Utility Expo 2023, where he got an up-close look at all the latest innovations in the utility industry. He explored the show floor, met with exhibitors, and learned about the newest products and services that can help utilities improve their efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

Here are just a few of the things that caught Kurt’s eye:

  • Electric vehicles and equipment: The Utility Expo featured a wide range of electric vehicles and equipment, from electric bucket trucks to electric excavators. Kurt was particularly impressed with the new Volvo EC230 Electric excavator, which offers zero emissions and reduced noise pollution.
  • Smart grid technology: The Utility Expo also showcased a variety of smart grid technologies, such as smart meters, grid-scale batteries, and distributed energy resources. Kurt learned about how these technologies can help utilities improve their reliability and efficiency, while also reducing their carbon footprint.
  • Drones and robotics: Drones and robotics are playing an increasingly important role in the utility industry. Kurt saw a variety of drones and robots that can be used for tasks such as inspecting power lines, repairing pipelines, and surveying disaster zones.

Felling Trailers introduces the Air Ramp Slider Track System (patent pending) for the Drop Deck I (DDI) series, air brake equipped, FT-20 I and FT-24 I trailers. The air ramp system does the lifting for you, flip the switch, and the air ramp system will raise or lower the ramps. Unique to the DDI’s air ramp operation is the slider track system that works in unison with the ramps pivoting as they are raised or lowered.
