Ditch Witch Air Saber Lance

Ditch Witch, a Charles Machine Works Company, has introduced the Air Saber lance, a new excavation accessory for the company’s FXT air-excavator equipment line.

As one of the highest-rated air lances on the market, the Air Saber is rated for operation at 250 psi, empowering operators to dig faster and more efficiently. The lance’s innovative design increases airflow for users while maintaining safe operation. A spring-lock, quick-connection system prevents the air hose from inadvertent separation, giving operators direct command of the lance while supporting overall project safety.

The lance’s fiberglass body is rated for higher air pressures and is constructed from nonconductive material. This helps increase operators’ safety for a variety of utility installation projects. The lance’s ergonomic, full-hand squeeze trigger is located in a natural position, resulting in improved comfort and ease of use compared with other air lances on the market.

The Air Saber is compatible with the Ditch Witch FXT Air series (FXT30 Air, FXT50 Air and FXT65 Air) along with other air-excavator models on the market. Air-Weigh Work Truck Scale

In the past, onboard scales for commercial work trucks have not been available. That just changed with the new LoadMaxx Work Truck Scale released by Air-Weigh.

Available now, it is the industry’s first onboard axle scale that will improve your safety record while making you more efficient. For example, overloading remains one of the top three causes of crane and hoist accidents on work trucks. At least one vehicle overturns for every 10,000 hours of crane use, and 80 percent of these incidents stem from excess weight.

The new LoadMaxx Work Truck Scale warns the driver when a vehicle’s weight approaches its safety threshold, allowing operators to load every truck safely, every time.

JackJaw Ground Rod and Gas Probe Puller

Elliott Equipment Co. D105 Digger Derrick

Elliott Equipment Co. has introduced the D105, a new ANSI 10.31 digger derrick specifically designed for transmission and heavy-duty construction projects. Mounted on a tandem axle chassis, the D105 boasts a 107-foot sheave height, 20,000 foot-pounds of torque and a 41-foot digging radius. The unit is equipped with Elliott’s high-boom pin-point geometry, allowing for maximum power out of the hole, a variable displacement piston pump and a new ergonomic seated control console.

Other key features of the D105 include auger spin speeds of 35 rpm (low) and 80 rpm (high); digging depth of up to 16 feet; heavy-duty tilting pole claw attachment and pole guide designed for gripping large poles; new front-entry seated pedestal control station; ability to handle augers up to 48 inches in diameter; 12,000-pound single line pull main winch with synthetic rope and 30,000-pound maximum lift capacity at a 10-foot radius; mounts on tandem axle chassis; radio remote control boom and digger operation; and optional out and down EZ-CRIB high-penetration two-stage vertical outriggers with full- or mid-span operation.

WEATHER GUARD Defender Series

The Defender Series from WEATHER GUARD offers the latest in affordable truck box solutions designed specifically for professional-level protection. Bose Ride System

Utility trucks need stiff suspensions for stability on the job. Lineworkers pay for stiff suspensions with back pain and fatigue, and companies pay with lost productivity. The Bose Ride system solves these problems by actively counteracting unwanted road vibration to improve ride quality.

In a recent evaluation conducted at a major utility company, lineworkers unanimously rated the Bose Ride system as providing a smoother ride in bucket trucks previously rated as rough-riding. Objective engineering measurements from that evaluation demonstrated that the Bose Ride system greatly reduced road shock and vibration felt by drivers in utility trucks.

AEM/AEMP Telematics Standard Earns ISO Approval

The mixed-fleet telematics standard from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) has received approval from ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, to be accepted as a global standard.

The new ISO mixed-fleet telematics standard enables equipment users to gather more OEM equipment data into their preferred business or fleet management software, providing easier access, improved ability to manage and analyze information across their fleets, and help saving time and money on the job site or within their operations.

While ISO is preparing the standard for final posting to its website, AEM and AEMP suggest three steps equipment users can take now to prepare for final publication of the ISO mixed-fleets standard.

First, equipment users are advised to check with their manufacturers to determine if and when they plan to comply with the standard and offer data through the standard’s application programming interface (API) format.

Second, equipment users are advised to check with the supplier of their preferred business or fleet management software for its plan to support integration of the new API to enable retrieval of their machine data. A helpful reference source is the “AEMP Telematics for Fleet Managers” primer.

Third, equipment users can bookmark the expected landing page for the standard and check back periodically to see when it is posted.

The ISO mixed-fleet telematics standard will be part of IS0 15143 (“Earth-moving machinery and mobile road construction machinery – Worksite data exchange”) as a new section – “Part 3: Machine data.”

Mattracks Rubber Track Conversion System

Nite Beams LED Safety Vests

Nite Beams Class 3 high-visibility LED safety vests emit beams into darkness that are visible up to a quarter-mile away and can be seen in any weather condition. Wear a vest during the day, and then in low-light conditions simply push a button to activate LEDs for extra visibility.

Nite Beam’s safety vests were recently awarded second place for best safety innovation at the ATSSA Traffic Expo in New Orleans. Each vest is powered by a USB rechargeable pack, weighing less than an ounce for comfort. A full recharge takes one hour.

When the vest is worn with the constant mode on, the LEDs will last for 18 hours. While in flashing mode, the LEDs will last 40 hours before having to be recharged.

LEDs are available in red, green, blue, pink, orange or white. Sizes include M, L, XL, 2X, 3X and 4X. The vest is ANSI/ISEA compliant and washable.

Solar Technology Arrow Boards

Solar Technology, manufacturer of solar-powered traffic safety equipment, recently announced that their flashing Arrow Boards will now include a built-in modem, GPS and free cellular service for the life of the board.

The cellular connection will enable customers to locate their boards via GPS, check battery voltage from their desks and change arrow patterns remotely. Customers will also receive data that includes a recorded history of what was displayed and when. The free cellular connection offers enormous savings over the lifetime of the board.

ARGO All-Terrain Vehicle

ARGO, a world-leading extreme vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled its new Lineman model geared specifically toward utility workers.

LIFTPLAQ Manhole Cover Remover

The LIFTPLAQ tool allows manhole covers and road stoppers to be removed in a safe manner. The mechanical assembly is fitted with a powerful magnet, connecting firmly to covers and road plates. It is ideal for personnel working on dry and wet networks and can be fitted with extensions to suit large manhole covers. The ergonomic design allows workers to lift covers with their backs straight and knees bent. There is no contact between the operator’s hands and the cover. The unit is easy to move and requires minimal storage space.

ASA Voyager Rear Sensor System

With ASA Electronics’ new Voyager CVRPS14 Rear Sensor System, drivers of medium and large vehicles have the comfort of knowing what is behind them at all times. Newly released to the market, this system comprises four independent rear sensors spaced evenly along the back of a vehicle, giving drivers an accurate reading of the surrounding areas along with excellent range of vision.

When attached to a compatible display, the sensors will provide an audible and visual notification when an object is detected. The audible warning progressively beeps as objects approach the vehicle. The visual warning and real-time video can be displayed on any attached Voyager monitor or any JENSEN touch-screen stereo with a camera input.

Each sensor operates independently from the others, giving off four distinct, constant signals to alert the driver of objects currently behind the vehicle as well as objects moving toward or across the rear of the vehicle.

Geo-Boy Brush Cutter Tractor

The Geo-Boy Brush Cutter Tractor from Jarraff Industries continues to expand its usage into diverse industries and applications. Synergy Technology’s Automated Flagger

The Automated Flagger AF-100 gives utility crews the option to remove human flaggers from the roadway in highway work zones. In addition to reducing or eliminating labor costs, and removing flaggers, the system offers higher visibility for oncoming traffic. It is superior for use in nighttime operations, fog and similar conditions.

The system – which meets or exceeds the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices’ specifications for an automated flagger assistance device – can be used in a single trailer or in a two-trailer configuration. The Automated Flagger AF-100 can be controlled via automatic timing or by a single operator safely out of the roadway with a wireless control pendant.

LineWise Folding Guard Arm

The new Folding Guard Arm from LineWise is a versatile attachment for boom trucks, digger derricks and various cranes. It simplifies conductor repairs and maintenance – jobs previously held by cumbersome wooden guard structures, homemade guard arms, and bucket or boom trucks fitted with 4x4s. The Folding Guard Arm has a stamped serial number plate fixed to the assembly to inform users of the rated load.

The Folding Guard Arm is useful for providing extra protection around highways and railroads where power lines cross. When either removing or installing a conductor, it keeps the travel route clear if a conductor or pulling rope droops too low. Through careful planning, the Folding Guard Arm will never touch the pulling rope or conductor.

Weighing 370 pounds, the Folding Guard Arm has a capacity of 1,000 pounds when attached to equipment with a load capacity of at least 1,370 pounds. It comes equipped with three lifting rings to assist in mounting, and folds easily for transportation or storage. Overall dimensions are 96 inches by 36.5 inches by 54 inches when in use, and a compact 80.25 inches by 17 inches by 30.25 inches when folded. With vertical and horizontal rollers, the conductor will not be scarred should it come into contact with the rollers. The Folding Guard Arm can be manually adjusted radially at ground level to allow the crane to be set at different positions. Rotary adjustments and boom angle adjustments make precision applications possible from almost any approach.

Terex Load Alert System

The new Terex Load Alert system option for Hi-Ranger aerial devices, on select units only, will supplement utility crews’ current safe work practices. When used in conjunction with an aerial device’s material-handling load chart, the Terex Load Alert system provides both visible and audible alarms to notify operators and the ground crew if a platform or jib capacity has been exceeded.

Terex developed the new Load Alert system in response to market demand for new technology solutions as an operator aid for crews in the field. It is designed to monitor and analyze the truck’s jib and basket capacity, the winch line load, the winch line’s distance from the platform’s pivot point and boom positions.

Customers can also opt to receive wireless notifications via text or email, so that supervisors and fleet directors have the ability to manage their equipment.

Rechargeable Road Flares from Super Bright LEDs

Super Bright LEDs – a leading online retailer of LED lights – offers Rechargeable LED Road Flares that can be used as safety/emergency lights and more. Terex Driver Safety Training Courses

These web-based modules provide utility professionals with proactive driver training, including instruction on mitigating the risk of driving infractions and collisions before they occur, which enables participants to learn how to safely drive Terex aerial devices, digger derricks and auger drills at their own pace, when it is convenient for them.

The driver safety training courses include Avoiding Crashes; Changing Lanes; DOT Vehicle Inspections; Driving and Adverse Weather; Highway Driving; Intersections and Right-of-Way; Limited Visibility Conditions; Proactive Driving; Speed Management; and Vehicle Backing Safety.

Jarraff Industries’ Tree Trimmer

Jarraff Industries’ Mini-Jarraff Rear Lot Trimmer is specifically designed for residential and municipal tree trimming. Abex RSD-Certified Brake Linings

Federal-Mogul Motorparts has expanded its range of Abex Reduced Stopping Distance (RSD) certified commercial grade friction linings to include a new lining that exceeds both the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards’ (FMVSS) 121 RSD requirement and OE brake manufacturer standard for 23,000-pound tractor applications. The new Abex RX 6297 lining is available through leading commercial vehicle parts distributors across North America.

In testing conducted by an ISO-certified facility, using a tractor equipped with a 23,000-pound drive axle and 14,600-pound steer axle, the Abex RX 6297 lining delivered under-loaded conditions a stopping distance of just 217 feet from 60 miles per hour, beating both the FMVSS 121 RSD standard and OE brake manufacturer requirement of 250 and 225 feet, respectively. The highly advanced, copper-free, crack-resistant lining is engineered to help maintain like-new braking performance while experiencing minimal swell and growth and offering excellent lining and drum wear.

The Abex brand also offers independently validated, RSD-certified linings for 20,000-pound tractor applications.

Terex Texoma Spiral Bullet Tooth Auger

For faster cycle times in and out of the hole in extreme ground conditions, the Terex Texoma spiral bullet tooth auger enables customers’ drill rigs to achieve higher production drilling rates. The cut pattern and tooth attack angle on the Terex auger combine to make the bullet teeth act like fingers that penetrate through and lift up fractured or broken material. These Terex augers are effective in working in sand, dirt, cobble, cement, fractured or hard rock, compacted soil and frozen ground conditions.

Terex has specially designed its spiral bullet tooth auger to allow each tooth to cut a small track, which increases productivity. With its spiral-shape design and unique tooth pattern that distributes the cutting action evenly, this auger equalizes the work done by each tooth on the cutting tool, increasing production rates and reducing tooth wear.

With a standard auger tool, one hole could take crews up to eight hours to drill. With the Terex Texoma auger, the same hole may only take them 30 minutes to complete.

The Terex Texoma spiral bullet tooth auger can be used in virtually any ground condition, with all of the standard Terex tooth offerings, and it is adaptable to any size of digger derrick truck. Terex offers a variety of flighting thickness and pitch options for this auger, as well as custom specifications upon request to meet every customer’s particular drilling needs and conditions.

NAFTC Propane Autogas Training Sessions

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium is offering a free, three-day training course designed to give automotive service technicians an in-depth look at servicing and maintaining propane-autogas-powered vehicles. The NAFTC launched the course to help fill a need for qualified technicians who can adapt, service and maintain the alternative fuel systems.

Course materials provided include a participant manual and program certificate. Instruction will mix classroom work with practical exercises and hands-on shop activities so technicians exit the course with an expansive knowledge of propane characteristics; bi-fuel, dual fuel and dedicated fuel systems; vehicle compatibility and conversion; system components; and personnel and shop safety.

Training is offered at Oklahoma City Community College April 25 to 27; Blossman Autogas Fuel and Research Center in Asheville, N.C., May 24 to 26; and June 14 to 16 at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Ore.

General Equipment Co. Tower Lights

General Equipment Co. has added Tower Light temporary lighting products to its line of specialized light construction equipment.

The Tower Light is an inflatable, temporary lighting solution designed for use in lighting both large and confined areas. A cylindrical load-bearing nylon tower is inflated with constant air pressure delivered by an integral blower system. The units can be installed and ready for operation in approximately one minute with no special tools or additional components. Operational heights of 7.5, 10 and 14 feet provide 360-degree diffused, glare-free illumination while minimizing shadows. The tower remains inflated even with minor cuts or perforations.

Tower Lights are designed for indoor/outdoor use and can operate from readily available 115-VAC, 60-Hz electrical power sources or self-contained, gasoline engine-powered generator systems for remote site applications. The tower fabric is easy to clean with soap and water.

The Tower Light’s portability, simplicity in ease of setup and storage, and lumen output make it an ideal, cost-effective, short-term lighting solution for a wide range of construction, accident investigation, disaster relief, search/rescue and other applications.

Ditch Witch Air Excavators

Ditch Witch has introduced a new line of air excavators: the FXT30 Air, FXT50 Air and FXT65 Air. The versatile and high-powered FXT Air system has air and water excavation capabilities, making it ideal for locating utilities or gas leaks in below-grade work sites.

In terms of air pressure, velocity and power output, the Ditch Witch air pressure system outperforms comparable equipment on the market. Its high-performance operation translates to faster excavation, vacuuming and backfilling, helping to reduce project costs.

All three Ditch Witch FXT Air models use a PTO-driven air compressor for efficient power transfer and nonstop productivity. The efficient filtration system utilizes a cyclonic separator to remove fine particles before reaching sensitive components in the vacuum system.

While hydro-excavation is widely used by utility workers to penetrate compacted or frozen soils on job sites, more states are restricting its use near highways and railroads or under certain environmental conditions. The FXT Air system gives operators the flexibility to meet changing job site demands by enabling instant switching from air- to hydro-excavation, and from high air pressure for excavating to low air pressure for hand tools and moles.

The new system positions many of the air excavation components under the truck deck, giving operators extra room and easy access. Operators can easily monitor and command all components using an electronic controller that displays system parameters. FXT Air models also accept a variety of tooling attachments.

Isuzu F-Series Truck

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Inc. recently unveiled an all-new entry in the Class 6 medium-duty truck segment – the 2018 Isuzu FTR. The F-Series truck is slated to go into production in the United States in mid-2017.

The FTR will be powered by Isuzu’s renowned 4HK1-TC 5.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, a first in the segment. Although horsepower and torque ratings have not been finalized, the company noted that the 4HK1 engine is well known for its high torque output. The powerplant will be mated to an Allison 2000 Series automatic transmission. The engine carries a B10 durability of 310,000 miles, meaning that 90 percent of engines should reach that mileage before requiring an overhaul.

Eight wheelbase configurations will accommodate bodies from 16 to 30 feet, allowing for a wide variety of body applications.

The all-new cab features a clean back-of-cab design that can provide more space for body applications compared to the previous F-Series truck. The FTR cab’s wide step and wide-opening doors allow easy entry to the spacious interior, which features three-across seating and extra space for storage behind the seats. Additional interior amenities include a side under safety mirror, overhead console and a suspension driver’s seat with armrest specially designed to increase comfort and reduce driver fatigue.

Pricing, available configurations, power ratings and additional features and specifications will be released in mid-2017.

WorkWave Route Manager Enhancements

WorkWave, a provider of cloud-based software solutions for field service management and last-mile fleet management, has added three critical enhancements to its route planning solution, leading to a rebranding of the solution.

WorkWave Fleet, the company’s proprietary route planning software, has been rebranded as WorkWave Route Manager. The software allows users to easily manage schedules, drivers and customers.

WorkWave Route Manager has incorporated three major enhancements to fulfill its vision of being the on-demand enabler for last-mile delivery companies. The first enhancement is GPS integration. Now, from one screen, planners can instantly locate their vehicles and react smarter and faster to last-minute changes. Communication between drivers and the office is greatly streamlined, and information is always at planners’ fingertips so they can provide customers with real-time status.

Proof of delivery is the second enhancement. Drivers can now capture photos, signatures and notes that sync back to the office using WorkWave Route Manager’s mobile app. This enables companies to answer customer inquiries quickly and accurately and gain easy access to a digital record of all completed deliveries.

APIs are the final enhancement. Companies can now easily integrate WorkWave Route Manager with their fleet management solution. Companies benefit by automated processes enabled by seamless communication between systems and the flexibility to manage their business as they choose.

Webasto Engine-Off Cooling System

To complement Webasto’s Polar Cab TS, an engine-off cabin cooling system that features exclusive thermal storage technology, the company recently launched the all-new Polar Cab ES. The ES maintains cool cabin temperatures during wait/load time in hot, humid and full sun conditions. Operators can now turn off their engines and keep comfortable, leading to fuel savings, idle reduction and increased productivity.

The ES is a battery-driven electric cooling system that offers a cooling capacity up to 7,000 BTU/h while maintaining low power consumption. It includes a compact 24-volt variable-speed electric compressor, with no additional batteries required for operation.

The Polar Cab ES can be installed with one of two different aftermarket kit configurations. Operators can decide between a universal overhead compressor/condenser unit with evaporator (Oakland) or a universal vertical floor-mounted compressor/condenser unit with evaporator (Osaka). Kits include refrigerant lines and fittings, mounting hardware, control unit and wiring harness.

Optronics International Combination Lamp

The redesigned Fusion LED combination stop, tail, turn and backup lamp from Optronics International is 25 percent smaller. It includes new, optimized circuitry that hosts both red and white LEDs on a single board, plus a patent-pending optical design.

The original 9-inch oval Fusion lamp was introduced at the 2014 Work Truck Show and has since been made available in 4-inch round and 6-inch oval formats with grommet- and flange-mount versions that fit virtually any standard lighting application. The entire family of Fusion LED combination stop, tail, turn and backup lamps is also being upgraded utilizing the new technology.

The Fusion lamps have been radically redesigned and now employ a more advanced circuit-board configuration and LED light projection technology. An optical bridge helps project red LED light from the red area of the lens to the clear area of the lens during the braking function. The innovative design enables the lamps to use fewer diodes, reduces heat load and lowers the overall lamp cost.

Mounting the new 6-inch Fusion surface-mount LED combination lamp requires only a half-inch hole for the lamp’s wiring and four mounting holes to accommodate rivets or screws. The low-profile, half-inch-thick LED lamp mounts snugly to the vehicle’s surface while preserving the vehicle’s structural soundness.

The new Fusion LED combination stop, tail, turn and backup lamps are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2016.

Breakthrough One-Key Lock Technology

The innovative BOLT (Breakthrough One-Key Lock Technology) series of locks, designed to provide convenient, one-key access to multiple locks, can streamline the workday and improve security for owners of 2015 and 2016 Ford Transit and Transit Connect commercial vans.

Patented BOLT locks are designed so that a single ignition key can be programmed to open any number of BOLT locks, reducing the need for multiple keys. The first time the ignition key is inserted into the BOLT lock cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move, immediately coding the cylinder to that unique key. From then on, only the driver’s ignition key is needed to unlock a padlocked toolbox, unhitch a trailer or secure gear and other valuable equipment.

Rugged, weatherproof BOLT locks are manufactured with an electroless nickel-plated carbon steel pin or shaft assembly/shield for strength and durability, and feature an automotive-grade stainless steel lock shutter and a six-plate tumbler sidebar that prevents picking and bumping.

McNeilus CNG System Expansion

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corp. company, has expanded its McNeilus NGEN Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) system offerings with a new high-capacity back-of-cab CNG configuration that provides 88 diesel gallon equivalents packaged in a low-profile design.

Ideal for fleets with Class 7 and 8 trucks, the NGEN brand system uses an exclusive, streamlined design with 50 percent fewer fitting connections and 25 percent fewer plumbing components. Three Luxfer G-Stor Go Type 4 cylinders are used, optimizing the overall weight of the system and minimizing the height to meet low-clearance specifications. Each cylinder is fitted with a Luxfer G-Flo One-Turn Valve that not only extends vehicle range by providing more usable gas at the required flow rate, but also significantly increases the filling flow rate. A dedicated pressure-relief device system spans the full length of each cylinder and provides continuous heat protection.

The system also features a fully enclosed structure with easy-access door, maintenance-friendly O-ring face seal connections, and North American-manufactured, CNC-formed high-pressure lines. Future plans to build off this new design will make the system scalable with customizable capacity options.

WEATHER GUARD Drop-Down Ladder Rack

The new WEATHER GUARD EZGlide2 drop-down ladder rack improves user safety when handling heavy ladder loads, especially with many of the new high-roof van models. The heavy-duty design is built with long-lasting powder-coated aluminum for continual use and, due to the light weight of the ladder rack, it maximizes the roof weight capacity of the van and improves vehicle gas mileage.

Additional ladder rack features include ease of operation, versatility and safety. According to WEATHER GUARD, the EZGlide2 is 50 percent easier to operate than competitor drop-down ladder racks. It also fits extension ladders up to 40 feet and step or podium ladders from 3 to 12 feet, plus it easily operates with up to 100 pounds of ladders per side. The optional third cross-member accommodates a conduit carrier for secure storage, and the rubber guard strip protects ladders, while the ladder lock bracket secures the holder in a loaded position. In addition, the removable lever bracket secures ladders from theft, and storage clips secure the lever inside the van for extra protection.

Terex Introduces New Installation Standards

To help fleet managers balance equipment value with user requirements, Terex has developed a new process to assist customers with spec’ing utility trucks, including aerial devices and digger derricks, that complies with bid specs, costs less to purchase and takes less time to produce.

Here’s how this new approach works: Terex meets with a utility customer to better understand what equipment is needed and how it will be used, what parts and service would be needed to support that equipment, and the capital structure that best fits the organization as it considers filling its fleet needs. If a customer does require a customized configuration for their equipment fleet, Terex uses the truck’s standard options and accessories as building blocks. This allows Terex to engineer, produce and place the parts unique to the customer requirements during the installation process where the unit and body are mounted on the truck chassis.

Crane Institute of America has released a metric edition of its flagship handbook, “Mobile Cranes.” The book joins “Rigging,” another of the institute’s metric handbook options, and can now be used more efficiently around the world.

Over the past few years, Crane Institute has delivered an increasing number of training classes overseas. It has also seen growth in the number of students from other countries attending classes at the institute’s corporate training facility in central Florida. Many of these students have requested metric editions of CIA’s training materials. The first edition metric “Mobile Cranes” is in parity with the 10th edition of the imperial “Mobile Cranes,” updated with the latest standards and information. Toroidal Autogas Tanks from Worthington Industries

Popular in Europe for many years because of the widespread use of propane autogas as a vehicle fuel there, toroidal fuel tanks were first introduced in the U.S. about a year ago by Worthington Industries. Toroidal fuel tanks utilize their unique doughnut shape for space efficiency for utility fleets. They are installed in the spare-tire area of a work truck, thus freeing up payload space. They also provide a flexible design option, along with reliable performance and value over thousands of miles of driving.

Toroidal fuel tanks are currently available from Worthington Industries in eight sizes, ranging from 23.6 inches in diameter and 9.8 inches in height to 28.4 inches in diameter and 13.8 inches in height. All sizes are compliant with American Society of Mechanical Engineers regulations. They are made of steel for durability, with a baked-on powder-coat application that maximizes corrosion resistance. Lytx Inc. recently unveiled its ActiveVision service, a comprehensive safety solution that helps detect and address – both in real time and over time – distracted and drowsy driving and following too close.

Stertil-Koni Palm Light

The Palm Light from Stertil-Koni, a leader in vehicle lifts, is a portable, magnetic, high-intensity LED light designed to affix easily to a broad range of metal surfaces commonly found in vehicle maintenance shops, including the company’s award-winning vehicle lifting systems.

This new piece of shop equipment will be available in the first quarter of 2016 and provides up to 800 lumens of directed light. Ditch Witch has expanded its line of compact equipment with the new, construction-grade SK752 mini skid steer with improved features that enable added confidence, productivity and versatility on the job.

With its 24.8-horsepower Kubota diesel engine – known for efficiency and low maintenance – the machine wields impressive power for all machine functions. It also directs more power to the attachment than comparable models on the market, helping operators get the job done faster.

Webasto Climate-Control Aftermarket Solution

The London, from Webasto Thermo & Comfort North America, is available as an aftermarket solution to owners of the Ram ProMaster for additional heating and cooling needs in their cargo space. The unit is compact and efficient, offering up to 32,500 Btu/h of cooling capacity and 44,500 Btu/h of heating capacity. An integrated HVAC system, the London can be installed in the driver’s compartment bulkhead area with conditioned air delivery rearward, which allows for ease of installation without compromising valuable cargo space. This standard tie-in HVAC system utilizes the vehicle’s existing in-line condenser and compressor for cooling. The London is equipped with high-efficiency blowers that deliver constant airflow and ensure a long service life.

For warmer environments in which higher cooling capacities are desired, Webasto has introduced the Extreme Climate HVAC aftermarket system. This system is an independent HVAC kit that shares the same components as the London tie-in configuration with the addition of an auxiliary engine-driven compressor, a compressor mount kit and a roof-mounted, low-profile condenser.

Westport Alternative Fuel Options

Westport Innovations Inc. will offer dedicated, liquid propane systems for 2016 Ford 5.0-liter F-150 trucks. This new liquid propane system will be offered in addition to Westport’s compressed natural gas package for 2016 Ford F-150 trucks. Both fuel options are part of the Westport WiNG Power System and are expected to be certified to EPA and CARB standards.

Westport is taking advantage of Ford’s new natural gas and propane gaseous-prep package, which is now available on model year 2016 vehicles. Designed to transport passengers and cargo, the 2016 Ford F-150 offers a 5.0-liter engine with improved emissions compared to gasoline. The new aluminum alloy body reduces the weight of the truck by as much as 700 pounds. In addition, the existing Ford OEM warranty remains intact.

The benefits of Westport’s new liquid propane system include a standard 24-gallon fuel tank or optional 16-gallon tank; simplified maintenance of an easily replaceable inline filter; no additional scanning tools required for diagnostic service; a fuel pump life expectancy of 150,000 miles; and consistent volumetric efficiency, resulting in superior power and emissions when compared to existing vapor propane systems.

Additionally, while most liquefied petroleum gas offerings in the market today take up valuable truck bed space, Westport’s tank packages will be located underbody.

Eaton Low-Speed Transmission Enhancements

Eaton has added two optional features to the company’s UltraShift PLUS and Fuller Advantage automated manual transmissions. The new Urge to Move and Blended Pedal features were added to enhance low-speed maneuverability in situations such as backing into a loading dock or maneuvering in a construction job site.

Both options are available at no charge and are easily configurable with ServiceRanger 4, Eaton’s proprietary PC-based diagnostic and service tool, and will be available in the Standard and Professional packages by year-end.

Urge to Move allows the vehicle to automatically start moving when the transmission is in gear and the operator releases the service brakes. After the vehicle has launched, it will creep at a constant speed at engine idle without the need to apply the accelerator – similar to what is experienced in a passenger vehicle. Blended Pedal allows the driver to directly control clutch engagement at engine idle through accelerator positioning and enables movement at varying speeds.

Doosan Portable Light Towers

Doosan Portable Power has expanded its line of portable light towers with the introduction of two small-body model light towers – the LSV6 and LSV8. Both towers are standard-equipped with a vertical mast that manually extends to 25 feet, 6 inches with four 1,000-watt metal halide lamps. A hydraulic actuated tower is available as an upgrade option on both LSV models.

The LSV6 is powered by a Tier 4 Final-compliant Kubota D1005BG diesel engine with a Mecc Alte 6-kW alternator, and the LSV8 is equipped with a Tier 4 Final Kubota D1105 engine and Mecc Alte 8-kW alternator.

The voltage in both light towers allows operators to utilize the receptacle power function to simultaneously power tools or heaters while providing optimal illumination for oil and gas exploration, construction sites, emergency and disaster relief, as well as drilling applications. Ditch Witch HD Backreamers

Ditch Witch has released a new line of heavy-duty (HD) backreamers to help underground construction operators improve productivity and tool durability on horizontal directional drilling job sites. New to all model designs, the HD backreamers are now equipped with standard API threads to fit any industry drill under 100,000 pounds.

The new models include the Beavertail HD, Warthog HD, Kodiak HD and Compact Fluted HD backreamers.

For improved fluid flow, the Beavertail HD backreamers are equipped with replaceable, hardened-steel Allen head nozzles. A flow-through shaft and rugged cutting design give this backreamer efficient fluid mixing capability.

Designed to require less torque and reduce drag when back-reaming, the Warthog HD model improves production and flow efficiency around the cutters and reamer body.

To reduce friction and the possibility of jams while drilling, the Kodiak HD backreamer enables cuttings and fluid to flow over the product and out the bore hole by providing optional drilling fluid from the rear of the tool.

Similar to the Kodiak HD design, the Compact Fluted HD backreamer reduces friction and the possibility of jamming by forcing fluid out the swivel plate. The improved heavy-duty casting design provides smooth pushback and maximum durability.

Sherman+Reilly Pintle-Eye Trailer Configuration

Sherman+Reilly Inc. has enhanced the towing ability of its Revolution Series transmission equipment product line with the addition of a pintle-eye trailer configuration for use with line trucks. The new platform of trailers provides reductions in overall weight and allows for a smaller field and storage footprint.

The new pintle-eye versions of the Revolution Series can be found on the T-7212-P Bullwheel Tensioner, PTR-7230S-P Split Model Puller/Tensioner/Reconductorer and RC-2500X-P Powered Reel Carrier.

The T-7212-P Bullwheel Tensioner is built with two pairs of 72-inch, five-groove bullwheels and delivers a maximum tensioning capacity of 12,000 pounds per subconductor or bullwheel pair. Each bullwheel has its own planetary gearbox and hydraulic motor with spring-applied hydraulic release brake.

The PTR-7230S-P Split Model Puller/Tensioner/Reconductorer, in a paired unit, delivers up to 30,000 pounds of pulling force and tensions up to 25,000 pounds. With a maximum speed of 4 mph, the Revolution Series PTR’s 72-inch bullwheels provide constant tension and precision control, and are designed to handle transmission-class conductors.

The RC-2500X-P Powered Reel Carrier, when paired with the PTR-7230S-P, provides an 84-inch rope reel with an optional 25,000 feet of Unitrex synthetic rope. This reel carrier offers full hydraulic back tension to the bullwheels that helps keep the rope or conductor tight around them.

Rock Mills’ Lifter PLUS

Rock Mills Enterprises has introduced the Lifter PLUS, which complements and builds on the success of the existing Lifter. According to the company, the Lifter is the most innovative product on the market to safely and efficiently remove manhole covers and drainage grates. In most cases, removing covers and grates is as simple as pushing a button on a remote control.

The Lifter PLUS delivers 3,500 pounds of magnetic gripping capacity. Driving Dynamics has completed the development and production of its latest technology advancement for driver safety training. Full-scale mobile simulators will be available as part of the company’s driver safety training curriculum starting the first quarter of 2016. Power management company Eaton has collaborated with Cummins to expand their lineup of integrated ISX15 SmartAdvantage powertrains. This will provide customers with additional choices tailored to their unique applications and operations. A new SmartAdvantage direct drive ratio is now available, and new engine ratings for the small-step overdrive ratios are being announced.

The new SmartAdvantage direct drive ratio is available in Cummins ISX15 400 HP and 450 HP ratings with 1550/1750 foot-pounds torque rating, ensuring optimal performance at lower rpm when combined with a 2.26- or 2.28-axle ratio. This package is the ideal solution for line haul or regional haul applications that operate in flat and hilly road terrains at cruise speeds in the range of 50 to 62 mph.

Launched in 2013, the SmartAdvantage powertrain with small-step technology is now available with new 400 HP and 420 HP ratings that provide customers with additional options beyond the original 450 HP rating. Voyager Rearview Mirror Monitor

The Voyager Replacement Rearview Mirror Monitor from ASA Electronics displays real-time images of a vehicle’s blind spots on the operator’s rearview mirror, making it more manageable for vehicle operators to change lanes, merge into traffic and perform backing maneuvers. Light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicle applications that previously had no use for a traditional rearview mirror can now utilize the new Voyager VOM73MM in place of the OEM-supplied option.

The monitor includes a 7-inch TFT LCD screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. It supports three camera inputs for rear and side camera applications. The monitor can be powered manually or automatically triggered by 12VDC power. Front side button control allows for manual camera source selection and picture adjustment. The Voyager mirror monitor works with all Voyager cameras and is a replacement option for rearview mirrors on Ford, GM, Dodge and Sprinter chassis.

Ditch Witch Ride-On Trencher

The new and improved RT80 ride-on trencher from Ditch Witch is a powerful and versatile midrange machine equipped for heavy-duty trenching in small places.

Powered by a 74.5-horsepower turbocharged Deutz Tier 4 diesel engine, the RT80 enables long-term productivity to meet the demands of most heavy-duty trenching jobs. The compact design and extensive axle capacity give the machine a best-in-class static load rating of 39,000 pounds.

Golight Off-Road Lamp

Golight Inc. recently introduced its GXL 4211 Off-Road Lamp. The lamp’s rugged form was inspired by and emulates the look of today’s off-road tires. The bezel of the GXL 4211 Off-Road Lamp features six air induction ports that enhance its thermal management capabilities and promote product longevity.

The lamp’s optics have been specially engineered for the environment unique to off-road driving. The sophisticated plano-convex lens optimally controls the substantial light generated by the lamp’s seven high-output LEDs, creating an intense 130,000-candela beam with a 12-degree angle that provides ample peripheral illumination, while preserving center beam intensity. The tough polycarbonate lens is protected by an integrated brush guard grill with four cross-members.

Global satellite communications are now available for DPL Telematics’ Titan Equipment Monitoring System. The Titan is an advanced telematics solution for wireless monitoring and remote tracking of off-road equipment, as well as over-the-road trucks, to increase productivity while reducing fleet costs. Leveraging Iridium’s low-latency satellite network, Titan users can now communicate with their assets anywhere on the globe, regardless of cellular availability.

The Titan Equipment Monitoring System allows managers to wirelessly monitor all their assets continually and accurately from a robust, Internet-based software package and mobile app. Satellite-communicated reporting ranges from basic runtime and location tracking to enhanced J1939 CANBus monitoring. CANBus data typically includes diagnostic fault codes, fuel consumption, idle vs. work time analysis, engine direct hour meter/odometer readings as well as temperatures and pressures.

Threatening machine health conditions such as critical lamp statuses, temperatures and pressures are transmitted within seconds via satellite by the Titan so corrective action may be taken. 2016 Isuzu NPR Diesel

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Inc. has introduced its newest model – the 2016 NPR Diesel. The truck features a 13,000-pound GVWR and a 33.5-inch frame to offer more capability than previously available in an entry-level Isuzu diesel truck, while still providing legendary Isuzu durability and fuel economy.

Among the notable features of the 2016 NPR Diesel are a standard 30-gallon rear-mounted in-rail fuel tank; a frame width of 33.5 inches that will accept bodies up to 102 inches wide and 91 inches high; and four wheelbases – 109, 132.5, 150 and 176 inches – that will accept body lengths up to 20 feet.

The new NPR Diesel is powered by the newest and most modern power plant in the Isuzu family, the 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TC turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine. The power plant produces 150 horsepower and 282 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 to 2,800 rpm.

Production of the 2016 NPR Diesel will begin in Japan in November 2015, and the truck will be available at Isuzu’s network of nearly 300 dealers in North America shortly thereafter.

GM-Navistar Vehicle Agreement

General Motors Co. and Navistar have reached a long-term agreement to develop and assemble future medium-duty, conventional cab Class 4/5 commercial vehicles, allowing Navistar to strengthen its product lineup and GM to expand its Chevrolet commercial truck portfolio.

The future products will be jointly developed using Navistar’s expertise in rolling chassis configurations and manufacturing capabilities, and GM’s commercial components and engines. The vehicles are slated for production in 2018 and will be manufactured at Navistar’s facility in Springfield, Ohio. Navistar plans to add 300 jobs and invest more than $12 million in facility upgrades and state-of-the-art equipment to produce the new vehicles. and

Ranger Work Van Partitions

Ranger Design Inc. has launched the all-new Max View Clear Top Polycarbonate safety partition. These composite bulkhead partitions have been designed to provide a solid, secure barrier between the occupants of the van and the cargo, while increasing visibility and reducing blind spots.

Rotary Lift Mobile Column Lifts

Mach Series mobile column lifts from Rotary Lift minimize downtime with fast setup features and versatility. According to Doug Spiller, the company’s heavy-duty product manager, the lifts feature fast rise and descent times, so technicians spend less time waiting for the lift before they can start working. The lifts also come with intuitive controls that make it easy to synchronize each column during the setup process. Automatic steering systems further save time by eliminating the need to manually pump each column before transport, and brakes engage automatically when the handle is released.

To provide utility fleet service facilities with maximum versatility, Rotary Lift Mach Series lifts can be removed from under a raised truck once the vehicle is lowered onto jack stands. The lift can then be used to raise other trucks for service, preventing bottlenecks of vehicles.

Each Mach Series lift column is powered by batteries and comes with an onboard charger. Since there is no need to plug the columns into power outlets, there are fewer cords cluttering the service bay. The Mach Series lift can also be equipped with a wireless communications option that eliminates all communications cables.

Doosan Utility-Mount Air Compressor

With a free-air delivery of 185 cfm and rated operating pressure of 100 psi, Doosan Portable Power’s utility-mount P185 offers the power to meet a variety of applications, including powering hand-held air tools, sandblasting, cable laying and pipeline testing. The above-deck portability provides towing capacity for larger machinery.

The utility-mount P185 compressor has been designed with the operator in mind by offering easy access to all major service points, leaving more time for the job at hand and less time spent on maintenance. Vanair FST3000+ Air

Vanair Manufacturing Inc. has introduced the FST3000+ Air with Fast Start Technology. With more than 3,000 amps of charging capabilities, the FST 3000+ Air is the most unique, state-of-the-art engine starting and charging product on the market today, according to Vanair. The product features the exclusive Vanair Super Capacitor, a 240-amp alternator, a gas fuel-injected Kohler engine and up to a 24-cfm (at up to 175 psi) reciprocating two-stage air compressor, enabling the operator to use a variety of air tools at the job site. A remote control panel provides a central, safe location to operate the features of the machine.

The FST3000+ Air can be equipped with either a 12- or 12/24-volt engine start and battery charge capability. Comprehensive safety features are abundant, and include reverse polarity and short-circuit lockout protection, connection faults and voltage protection. Low oil pressure and engine-over-temperature shutdown are also included.

Golight LED Work Light

Golight Inc. has introduced its GXL 4021 fixed-position LED work light. The new light’s fascia measures just 4.5 inches wide by 4 inches tall, has a depth of only 3.5 inches and comes with a 2-inch stainless steel mounting bracket. The GXL 4021 represents the company’s expansion of its permanently mounted, manually adjustable LED work lights and is the smallest of the four lights it now offers in that category.

The light’s small size and stunning illumination power are byproducts of its space-saving LED cluster design, combining four clusters of four high-powered LEDs to generate a maximum output of 4,500 lumens. The raw power of the light’s 16 LEDs is controlled through the use of three rugged yet versatile polycarbonate lenses. Takeuchi TS80 Skid-Steer Loaders

Takeuchi-US has introduced TS80 skid-steer loaders that are available in both radial- and vertical-loader arrangements. Highly maneuverable and powerful, the large-frame TS80 loaders deliver an outstanding blend of performance, durability and operator comfort. They feature a 74-horsepower, Final Tier 4 Deutz engine that delivers an impressive 192 foot-pounds of torque at 1,800 rpm. A key benefit of the new Deutz engine is its simple, maintenance-free diesel oxidation catalyst that does not require regeneration, cleaning or diesel exhaust fluid.

Takeuchi’s TS80R2 features an operating weight of 7,950 pounds and a rated operating capacity of 2,825 pounds. The bucket breakout force on the TS80R2 is 5,845 pounds, with a lift-arm force of 7,080 pounds and a maximum hinge pin height of 10 feet, 5 inches.

The TS80V2 is heavier than its radial counterpart, with an operating weight of 8,965 pounds and a rated operating capacity of 3,500 pounds. Bucket breakout force on the vertical model is 5,920 pounds, with a lift-arm force of 6,200 pounds and a maximum hinge pin height of 10 feet, 10 inches.

Derive Systems Idle Reduction Technology

Derive Efficiency from Derive Systems offers technology that lowers vehicle idle levels by up to 30 percent, significantly reducing fuel costs, increasing miles per gallon and cleaning up a fleet’s carbon footprint by up to 16 percent. Derive Systems has reduced fuel consumption and emissions for Dish Network’s 4,700 fleet vehicles, saving them more than $2 million in fuel spending, or the equivalent of removing about 300 vans from the fleet. In addition, carbon emissions were reduced by over 9,000 tons of CO2, or the equivalent of removing 1,680 cars from the road annually.

Since 2003, Derive Systems has produced fuel savings software that saves both public and private fleets millions of dollars. Westport Alternative Fuel Options

Westport Innovations Inc. recently announced that the company will offer dedicated, liquid propane systems for 2016 Ford 5.0L F-150 trucks. This new liquid propane system will be offered in addition to Westport’s compressed natural gas package for 2016 Ford F-150 trucks. Both fuel options are part of the Westport WiNG Power System and are expected to be certified to EPA and CARB standards.

Westport is taking advantage of Ford’s new natural gas and propane gaseous-prep package, which is now available on model year 2016 vehicles. Designed to transport passengers and cargo, the 2016 Ford F-150 offers a 5.0L engine with improved emissions compared to gasoline. The new aluminum alloy body reduces the weight of the truck by as much as 700 pounds. In addition, the existing Ford OEM warranty remains intact.

The benefits of Westport’s new liquid propane system include standard 24-gallon fuel tank or optional 16-gallon tank; simplified maintenance of an easily replaceable inline filter; no additional scanning tools required for diagnostic service; fuel pump life expectancy of 150,000 miles; and consistent volumetric efficiency, resulting in superior power and emissions when compared to existing vapor propane systems.

While most liquefied petroleum gas offerings in the market today take up valuable truck bed space, Westport’s tank packages will be located underbody, thereby creating additional capability and productivity for fleets.

Scott Powerline Mantis GTC-1200

Scott Powerline & Utility Equipment has enjoyed many firsts with the Mantis Crane product line – one of the first dealers, one of the first to place the cranes in a rental fleet and one of the first to introduce several new models over the years. The company has continued that tradition with Tadano Mantis’ new GTC-1200 model. NAFTC Announces Fall 2015 Training Schedule

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) has released its fall alternative fuel vehicle training schedule. The schedule includes courses for automotive technicians, including Light-Duty Natural Gas Vehicle Training, Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Fuel System Inspector Training and Electric Drive Vehicle Automotive Technician Training. The schedule also includes the Hydrogen, Hydrogen Vehicle and Hydrogen Fleet Awareness Workshop. This workshop is for automotive technicians, fleet managers, municipalities and others interested in understanding hydrogen as a fuel source.

All classes feature a combination of classroom and hands-on training and will be held at the NAFTC headquarters in Morgantown, W.Va. Continuing education units from West Virginia University are available for all training classes.

HDD Advisor Helps Simplify Tooling Configuration

The Ditch Witch organization, a Charles Machine Works Company, has released the industry’s first Web-based Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Advisor tool. Customers can use the advisor to quickly determine the right tooling configuration for their Ditch Witch or Vermeer directional drill string.

Historically, identifying the proper tooling for job sites was time-consuming, cumbersome and paper-intensive. The new HDD Advisor gives operators and dealers an intuitive tooling-product roadmap and quickly recommends configurations and solutions based on a few questions.

The new HDD Advisor also includes the option to save drill string configurations for future reference and streamline ordering of replacement parts. Operators can share their drill string configurations with their dealer of choice and print or email summaries from a PC or mobile device.

Bronto Skylift to Exhibit Truck-Mounted Aerials at ICUEE

From September 29 through October 1, Bronto Skylift will show and demonstrate their model SI-197 HDT insulated aerial and their new S-173 XDT with Bronto Skylift +4 operating system in Booth N2054 at ICUEE in Louisville, Ky.

Mounted on a TOR 8×6 all-wheel-steer chassis, the SI-197 HDT is an insulated aerial capable of bare-hand work on power lines up to 765 kV AC and 560 kV DC. It features a full 197 feet of working height and 1,000-pound capacity from its standard 6.5-foot-by-3-foot platform. Horizontal outreach is 72 feet and – with 360-degree continuous turntable rotation, push-button outrigger deployment and automatic outrigger leveling – it can be quickly and easily set up to reach overhead work areas almost anywhere. Setup time from the setting of the jacks to full elevation is under 15 minutes.

McNeilus Advances CNG Systems and Services

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing Inc. has introduced significant enhancements to its industry-leading NGEN CNG Systems and Services. The NGEN fuel delivery system now features improved capabilities, with optimized internal diameters that offer up to 30 percent improved fill times. The fill time compares favorably to that of traditional diesel fuel. Streamlining the design has reduced the number of plumbing components by 25 percent and the number of connections by 50 percent.

NGEN systems also offer continuous-protection thermal pressure relief devices (PRDs) on all configurations that span the length of the tank and system, increasing protection against localized thermal events. Typical PRD configurations contain more high-pressure plumbing and have less thermal sensing surface.

Additionally, for enhanced serviceability and reliability, O-ring face seal (ORFS) fittings have been integrated where possible. ORFS fittings can be tightened to proper torque values, mitigating assembly and reassembly errors.

Worthington Large-Diameter CNG Cylinder

Worthington Industries Inc. has expanded its line of compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinders with a new lightweight, large-diameter, 26.2-inch model. This is the company’s largest Type III CNG cylinder, and it provides superior fast-fill efficiency. The inner aluminum liner dissipates heat during fast-filling, allowing 15 to 25 percent more fuel storage compared to Type IV cylinders of similar size.

Ideal for Class 8 heavy-duty and refuse trucks, these large-diameter cylinders will fill to rated capacity, making longer routes possible. As with all Worthington Type III cylinders, the aluminum inner liner provides an added safety feature by reducing the risk of flex or fracture in the outer composite reinforcement if an impact occurs.

Worthington Type III CNG cylinders, including the new large-diameter model, are built to aircraft, railcar and watercraft CNG cylinder standards, which are more stringent than typical over-the-road standards.

Kenworth will now offer heavier front axles for its T370 Class 7 model. The 18,000- and 20,000-pound axles are available with the PACCAR PX-9 engine rated up to 350 horsepower and 1,150 pound-feet of torque. The package includes a heavy-duty, cross-brace reinforced front frame assembly. Bolted cross-members and either 10-3/4-inch frame rails or 10-5/8-inch frame rails with inserts complete the chassis package. Iron hubs, drum brakes and dual-power steering gears, along with a power-steering cooler, are part of the spec package.

Terex Acquires Assets of DUECO

Odyne Approved for Voucher Program

Odyne Systems, a leading manufacturer of hybrid systems for medium- and heavy-duty work trucks, has been approved as an eligible vehicle for the recently expanded Drive Clean Chicago program, promoting clean air and better business solutions for Chicago’s fleets. Under the program, nearly $11.3 million has been funded for vouchers for alternative fuel vehicles over 6,001 gross vehicle weight rating and public stations in the city of Chicago as well as Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties. Incentives under the program cover 80 percent of the incremental cost of the vehicle.

Drive Clean Chicago aims to accelerate the adoption of advanced vehicle technologies for the commercial truck and taxi sectors. By reducing the cost of a new alternative fuel vehicle or the development of a public alternative fuel station, Chicago fleet owners can begin to see significant economic gains while creating a sustainable future for Chicago’s transportation system.
