The Utility Expo returns to Louisville, Kentucky, October 7-9, featuring more than 900 exhibitors, hands-on equipment demonstrations and expanded educational programming.
Among the 2025 show’s new offerings are the ADVANCE Program for Women in Utilities Workshop; the HDD Rodeo; partnerships with the Common Ground Alliance and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; the National Equipment Operator Championships, spearheaded by the National Utility Contractors Association; and a luncheon symposium focused on advancing safety in the electric utility industry.
Mike Starner, executive director of outside line safety for the National Electrical Contractors Association, will kick off the luncheon symposium with his keynote address, followed by an executive perspectives panel discussion focused on safety challenges and successful initiatives. The session will conclude with a roundtable discussion moderated by subject matter experts.
According to Brianne Somers, show director for The Utility Expo, “The luncheon symposium is a unique opportunity to bring together voices from across the electric utility industry to share what’s working, what’s changing and how we can collectively raise the bar.”
Designed to deliver high-impact learning on the show floor, Utility Expo attendees will also have access to 90-minute field classroom sessions, which Somers said are a direct response to evolving workforce needs: “This is about preparing the next generation of leaders with the tools and knowledge to succeed in a fast-moving industry.”
Scheduled session topics include worksite preparation and clearing; safety technology innovations; horizontal directional drilling; equipment hydraulics; toolbox/tailgate talks; boosting equipment uptime; vacuum excavating; street utility cuts and restoration; and electromagnetic underground utility locating.
