Ten-Nine Technologies is scaling production of TENIX, its patented cathode additive, as the battery industry’s shift toward manganese-rich chemistries accelerates. The company describes TENIX as “anti-aging for batteries.”

Unwanted chemical byproducts build up inside batteries each time they are charged or discharged; this is the same process that raises your smartphone’s temperature and shrinks electric vehicle range. TENIX stops the process at the source. Blended directly into a battery’s cathode material during manufacturing, it accounts for roughly 0.5 to 2% of the weight, or roughly 0.5 to 2 kg for every 100 kg of cathode. This is roughly the same amount contained in a typical EV battery pack.

TENIX does not require any new equipment or battery redesigns. It can be dropped into cathode production lines already run by manufacturers. In third-party testing, TENIX delivered over 75% more charge-discharge cycles, extending typical EV battery life from a 150,000-mile warranty baseline to more than 265,000 miles.
